Waitlist
The Pemberton Children’s Centre services 49 daily spaces for children aged 11 months to school age.
Due to the high demand for childcare in the Sea To Sky region, we are currently operating a substantial waitlist. Regrettably, PCC is unable to accommodate childcare for all who are on the waitlist at this time. If you chose to register, please know there is a possibility we may not be able to provide a space for your child.
Our goal is to provide child care for as many families as possible, however our wait list does not work on a “first come, first serve basis”. Your place of the waiting list is determined by the date your FULL application is received by our administration team, your priority on the waitlist and licensing regulations regarding allowable enrolments in each program.
Please note that we will only accept an application following the birth of your child.
New applications must be submitted using our online application form, along with a copy of your child's birth certificate or proof of birth.
Birth certificates or proof of birth can be submitted to [email protected], with a reference to your child's name.
Please note that your child will be placed on our waitlist once we have received ALL of the required documentation.
When a space becomes available, it will be offered to families according to licensing regulations regarding allowable age in each program and our priority lists policy:
- Children of Pemberton Children’s Centre Staff;
- Children currently enrolled in the Centre who are ageing out of a younger program and are ready to move to the next program;
- Children who are currently enrolled and waiting for additional days
- Children with siblings already enrolled in the Centre
- General waiting list
To ensure that families gain access to the Pemberton Children Centre’s programs in the shortest time possible, the following practices are put in place:
- We will contact you by phone and by email to offer you a space.
- When you are offered a space, you have 24 hours to accept or refuse the space.
- If we don’t hear from you within the 24 hours, we will offer the space to the next person on the waiting list. This is to be able to give you as much notice as possible while also ensure we are able to fill the space within the given time.
- If you refuse the space, you will keep the same space on the waiting list.
- After two (2) refusals, your name will be removed from the list. If you chose to reapply, your name will be added at the bottom of the list.
Although we understand that it is difficult to not have certainty or a timeline, due to the high volume of applicants and low turnover of spaces, please note that we will not be able to respond to phone calls and/or emails regarding where your child is on the list or predicting when a space will become available. Rest assured we will contact you as soon as a space becomes available for your child in their respective age grouping.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How long is the wait list?
The length of the wait list varies.
Will a part time opening be available sooner than full time?
Unfortunately, full time openings are rare because most children are enrolled on a part time basis.
How much notice will I have when a spot becomes available?
As a general rule, we require 1 calendar month notice when parents want to withdraw their child from a program. We will be able to contact you 2 to 3 weeks before the start date.
Can I stop in anytime and have a look around?
We would be happy to give you a tour! Please make arrangements with management staff to setup a guided walk through of the centre.
My child goes to ski school in the winter, will I keep my days of care?
No, after making changes to your schedule, you must reapply to the waiting list to obtain more days of care. Your name will be added at the bottom of the list and will be considered according to our priority list.
Once my child is in a program, am I guaranteed a child care space in the next age group?
Yes. Once a child enters the Centre they will transition throughout the programs unless a parent requests otherwise.
Do you offer half days?
Unfortunately, we do not have the space to offer half days.
Why was a family who applied after us offered a space first?
In some cases, a family who is lower on the list may be offered an opening before families that are higher on the list. Priority is given to children of staff members, children aging out of a younger program, children currently enrolled in the program, and siblings of currently enrolled children.
