About Us

To ensure that all children feel safe, loved and cared for the Centre provides an environment that is supportive, secure, and nurturing.  The experienced Educators create an environment that is positive, fun and stimulating to help encourage each child’s sense of wonder, creativity and desire to learn.  A positive environment promotes pro-social behaviours.

Mission statement: to champion healthy, sustainable childcare together with families and the community

Mandate: to provide a loving, caring and nurturing environment for the children of the Pemberton Valley area.

Philosophy:
The Pemberton Child Care Society believes that each child is a unique individual with the ability to be loved and nurtured.  The Centre has an integrated, play-based philosophy that focuses on respecting and recognizing each child’s uniqueness and helping them to reach their potential in all areas of development.
At the Pemberton Children’s Centre:
Children are entitled to environments and opportunities that foster positive emotional, social, cognitive and physical development and that value inclusively, multiculturalism, interdependence and dignity.
Families are entitled to be involved in a meaningful way in their childcare experience and deserve assurance of quality care for their children.
Educators are entitled to a working environment which recognizes and respects their training, skills and commitment to childcare and which demonstrates this through respectful communication and personnel policies.
The Centre enhances the lives of children, their families and the community by providing a caring, supportive and vital community service.
The Pemberton Children’s Centre promotes quality care by:
  • Valuing individuals - respecting their unique needs and personalities
  • Enhancing the social, physical, intellectual, creative, emotional and moral development of each child
  • Recognizing that play is the child’s response to life - the medium through which he/she learns
  • Providing a safe, healthy and nurturing environment, which is free from prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination and promotes inter-cultural understanding
  • Seek and encouraging family and community input
  • Ensuring ongoing open communication and information exchange
  • Working together co-operatively and respectfully to promote a sense of community and interdependence
  • Acting as advocates for the children
  • Maintaining a high standard of professionalism
